Homeless Warming Center

HOW DOES THE PROGRAM WORK?

WCC is partnering with Community Council and Tri-County Continuum of Care to be one of two warming centers from December-March. The purpose is death prevention for the homeless. With the consultation of a meteorologist, warming centers will be activated when the overnight temperature is predicted to be below 20°. Persons in need of shelter on these nights will call the Emergency Weather Hotline [636.395.0492] beginning at 5pm to receive instructions.

WHEN/WHERE WILL THIS TAKE PLACE?

During the months of December-March there will be two warming centers: St. Charles and Wentzville. WCC will be alternating on-call weeks with another local church in Wentzville. Residents from Lincoln and Warren county will be transported to the Wentzville location.

HOW CAN I SERVE?

WCC will provide cots, mattresses, and bedding for up to 20 guests when we are activated. We need overnight servants to be “on-call” each night for a 7-day period. You can commit to as many 7 day periods as you would like from December-March [WCC is responsible for 8 total weeks]. You will be contacted each day around noon [or earlier] if we are activated for that day.
